[Blog update] New design
September 29th, 2008
I’ve been using Wordpress for over 2 months now and really really enjoy it. The unfortunate part was trying to find a relevent theme. I’m very particulate when it comes to choosing well designed, high-quality, simple (but not boring) products. In this case, scoping the web for a perfect WordPress template.
After many hours, I finally stumbled upon a theme called ‘Hemingway‘, which seemed to fit the bill. It was simple, it sort of matched my site, and was fairly customizable (up to a point). So I stuck with it.
Subsequently, I became really unsatisfied with Hemingway’s lack of options and further customizability. I really needed a real sidebar so that links and such weren’t cluttered like they were with Hemingway (ahem, down below). Space management was also an issue, as there was way too much emptiness between the actual content. This would not do.
So, today I went on another multi-hour quest in search for a replacement theme, which yielded better-than-before results. Eventually I came across a theme called ‘Plane Jane‘. I was impressed. It wasn’t lackluster at all, and had most of the qualities I’ve been desperately seeking; simplicity, elegance, expandability, and usefulness. It was lightweight, compatible, and customizable, too. Great! Finally!
I still need to experiment with Plane Jane (…for some reason that sounds dirty), adding a custom header and maybe tweaking the width a bit. But for now, this will be my theme… until I can get a custom one done.
